Hello. I've given this a lot of thought, read the Internet, and found that I have to work out a system that works for me. I can only consume 1,000 calories and maintain my weight. I weigh 100 lbs at 5' ft. I have a small frame, and exercise for an hour at least 3 days a week. I have a challenging life, working in my office 10 hours a day, and caregiving for an elderly Mother. Not sure why I can't eat more without gaining weight. I'm 63 years old wich may make a difference. I eat only chicken, fish, vegetables, lots of fruit and a cookie or piece of cake occasionally. I find that I have enough to eat on this diet, but wonder why I can't eat more. If I eat 200 to 300 more calories a day for any period of time, I gain weight.

Your age may have something to do with it, as you get older your bodies burns and requires less and less calories. Your RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) is just under 1000 calories, however your activity should bump it up considerably.... Sometimes, however, your body just decides to be different, and there is no helping it!! besides, 100lbs is hardly a weight at which you need to be worrying considerably about your weight!!! its only just into the healthy range for your height! :)

Hi I'm a 26 yr old female and I am working out 5 times a week for an hour - My nutritionist has set my daily calorie intake at 1200 is this right?

1200 sounds very low if you work out 5 times a week and are 26. If you're trying to lose weight -- you will. If not, I think you need more nutrition.
