Insulin level may be key to dieting, study says
The Indianapolis Star Obese people who want to lose weight by dieting may benefit from taking a blood test for the hormone insulin, showing if a reduced-fat regimen or one lower in carbohydrates would be best, researchers found. People whose bodies produce a lot of the hormone, used to covert sugar to energy, are more likely to lose weight by eating peanuts, kidney beans and other foods that raise blood-sugar levels slowly and help to control hunger, according to a study in this past week's Journal of the American Medical Association.
